«Нестись на препятствие». Действовать слишком поспешно, не раздумывая. Эта метафора употребляется в своём буквальном значении в сфере верховой езды и охоты. To rush one's fences значит стремительно приближаться к препятствию на скачущей галопом лощади, не учитывая возможности лошади и рискуя при этом упасть.
